Artists from Espoo Art Lending Service have monthly art installations in the lobby of Comfort Hotel Sello. The featured artist for June and July 2026 is Seija Rissanen.
Painting is also a discussion
Seija Rissanen is an Espoo-based visual artist (b. 1943), whose painting path has continued for over 30 years. She has education from the Free Art School (1 year) and several courses in the field. Her main techniques are oil and acrylic painting and woodcut. Rissanen’s paintings are often a discussion and reflection between the abstract and the representational. Most important exhibitions: SKjL K.H. Renlund Art Museum, EKT’s 40th anniversary. Rovaniemi Art Museum, Vantaa Art Museum “Never Retirement”, Pyhäniemi Manor Hollola, Finnish Nordic Art Association Suomenlinna and about 30 own exhibitions. Rissanen currently has works in the premises of the Finnish Painters’ Association and Skanno showroom in Helsinki.
The three paintings on display now are “Sokea Anna” created in my studio in the Sinebrychoff villa, where Anna, who spent her last years of life as a blind woman, was once the hostess. “Kaihon kasvot” is a memory from my childhood and the third work “Ylhäältä näkee alas” is where I have tried to say that art is not that serious, it can also be playful.
The painting above: Kaihon kasvot 2009-2014, acrylic on canvas 100 cm x 120 cm
