February’s Artist of the Month: Ligita Puriņa

Ligita Puriņa (b. 1973, Riga) is an artist who has lived in Finland since 1995.

“Creating something new and searching for beauty have fascinated me since childhood. Over the years, I have experimented with a wide variety of techniques and materials to realize my ideas, but visual art has always been and remains my central form of expression. I explore and enjoy painting nature, especially water surfaces, reflections, and natural elements found in or floating on water. I am also very interested in portraits and figurative art, through which I can use visual means to tell both real and imagined human stories. In addition to paintings, I create botanical plant studies based on plants from nature and from my own garden, as working with plants gives me strength and inspiration.”
