How Do I Borrow Art?

Borrowing art is easy. The minimum loan period is one month, and the artwork can be returned to the art lending service at any time during the loan period. The loan ends when the artwork is returned. The monthly loan fee is paid every month. You can also purchase the artwork outright, either gradually through monthly payments or as a one-time payment. The total price of the artwork is always the same, regardless of the payment method.

Some works, such as unframed pieces, are available only as purchase-loans, which means the borrower commits to buying the piece. These loans can also be paid off in monthly installments.

Many artworks featured in Gallery Aarni’s exhibitions can also be purchased with monthly payments under the same loan conditions as the Espoo Art Lending Service. Our staff can provide exhibition-specific information.

Art with Monthly Payments

The monthly loan fee is approximately 5% of the artwork’s price, rounded to the nearest hundred euros. However, the minimum monthly fee is €20/month. Ownership of the artwork transfers to the borrower once the full price has been paid.

Borrowing takes place at the Espoo Art Lending Service, located in Sello Shopping Center. You can take the piece home immediately once the loan agreement is signed or the piece has been purchased. When borrowing, the first monthly payment is due immediately. Payment options include cash, debit card, and Visa/Mastercard.

The borrower agrees to follow the loan terms of Espoo Visual Artists Association and Espoo Art Lending Service until the artwork is either fully purchased or returned.
